GIVEAWAY: Mountain Rose Herbal Tea

GIVEAWAY: Mountain Rose Herbal Tea

Mountain Rose Herbs is one of my favorite companies. I buy most of my herbs for things like homemade cough syrup or real root beer from them, because they often have the hard-to-find ingredients at a good price.

They have arguably the widest selection of medicinal and culinary herbs on the Interwebs—most of it organically grown—and they also carry things like coconut oil, shea butter, essential oils, and other ingredients that you might use for making your own toothpaste or other homemade cosmetics.

Their mission, from their website:

“Mountain Rose Herbs has always taken an uncompromising stand when it comes to the protection and sustainability of our natural world and the delicate systems which balance all life as we know it. Not only do we lead the industry in environmental stewardship and commitment to organic agriculture, we also adhere to strict principles and protocols that ensure fair treatment and compensation for our workers and the farmers who grow our herbs. We hope to encourage an ecological practice within businesses and our communities, where more is given than is taken. This follows the simple, yet powerful dictum,

‘The frog does not drink up the pond in which it lives.’

Mountain Rose is a zero-waste company and a real pioneer for sustainability and health. So, when I recently discovered that they were offering a new line of organic herbal teas, I jumped at the chance to try them.

But then, when they told me their teas are now the ONLY organic teas on the market packaged in a 100% post-consumer, recycled box with a 100% biodegradable cellulose bag holding the tea inside, I got really excited.

Their cardboard tea box features:

  • 100% post-consumer waste recycled newspaper
  • Reusable
  • Recyclable
  • Biodegradable/Compostable
  • Printed with soy ink and water-based varnish
  • Recyclable labels

The inner tea bag features:

  • Non-GMO tree cellulose, an industrial bi-product from the Pacific Northwest
  • 100% Compostable
  • Resealable with adhesive tab for freshness

Mountain Rose Tea features:

With tea as sustainable as it is delicious, I just had to share. That means it’s your lucky day!

What You’ll Win

I’m giving away a 3-box set of Mountain Rose Herbal Tea, including Memory Zest Tea, Fairytale Tea, and Herbal Coffee. Each 4-ounce box of loose tea blend is caffeine-free.

The Memory Zest Tea is a refreshing blend of clarity-inducing herbs, like Ginkgo leaf, Gotu Kola, Peppermint, Red Clover, Rosemary, Ginger and Stevia leaf. It is light and delicious.

The Fairytale Tea is my 4-year-old daughter’s favorite, and contains a soothing combination of organic Calendula flowers, Red Clover, Spearmint, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Catnip, Oatstraw, Lemon peel, Skullcap, Chamomile, Thyme and Stevia leaf. It is minty and crisp with a strong note of red clover that I came to appreciate a lot while pregnant with my daughter. (Maybe that’s why she likes it!) It is the best-tasting and most effective “sleepytime” tea blend I have ever tried.

The Herbal Coffee is meant to be a morning beverage or coffee substitute. Mountain Rose’s Herbal Coffee blend contains organic Dandelion root, roasted Chicory root, roasted Carob, and Maca powder.

I have to say that as a former coffee aficionado who only drank fairly-traded, shade-grown, organic coffee made with locally roasted beans, freshly ground and French pressed (Yes, I was that person.), Herbal Coffee decidedly does not taste like coffee. However, it is strongly reminiscent of coffee, perhaps because of the chicory root, which is a common coffee additive.

But, if you don’t expect it to taste just like coffee, and take it on its own merit, Herbal Coffee is actually a very delicious morning brew. Chicory, Carob and Maca make a robust, aromatic and healthy blend I think any former coffee drinker would enjoy a lot. I sure do!

These teas run $6.95 per 4-ounce box (which is a lot of tea!), and they are worth every penny!

One of you lucky folks is going to win this delicious tea collection, and hopefully the rest of you will be sure to head on over to Mountain Rose Herbs to try some of these amazing teas for yourself.
